Nightime.

So, i didn't take many pictures last night. But... Still quite interesting.

We started out at a rum bar near the hotel. Seemed to be only locals there, so it seemed like a good choice. We were served mojitos, which i thought a bit odd, since they have ice in them and all i've read everywhere is don't accept anything with ice because it'll melt and make you sick, etc. (Note: I feel fine today). Then I thought i might try some colombian rum, and wow was it good. It's a sipping rum that you can drink straight. Something i'd never contemplate with Captain Morgan.

From there, we walked down, of course, the one unlit street. And wound up at a colombian dive bar. They just sell the liquor by the bottle, so i got a pint of what they were offering me. I'm not sure what it is, what its called, 0r anything else. It's just some sweet anise-flavored drink that you do shots of. So we did a bunch of shots, found out there's no open container laws to worry about, and then proceeded back to civilization.

When we got back to the square which had the rum bar (cartagena has many town squares. I'd show you on a map, but i don't actually have a map), i saw a couple of guys sitting by the trees, playing chess. Walked over, Danielle asked if i could get next, they said sure, and then she went for pizza while i got my but kicked at chess. It was fun though, I've missed playing. And the guy was very forgiving, letting me take moves back as needed.

Either which way, there was a lot of drinking to be done last night. Which is fine, because the next two days are early mornings (so we can go to a mud volcano and an island snorkleing expedition), so to get the party night out of the way was a good thing.

Your author, after far too many mojitos, beers, shots of rum,
and shots of some other sweet yet foul liquor.
Circa 1 in the morning, but with being in a different time
zone and day light savings, it was probably 3 ish really...

It's kind of hard to feign poorness when it's so hot out you
have to cool yourself off by waving money as a fan.

It also doesn't help when your bills are all
50,000 COP, 20,000 COP, and 10,000 COP, and
everything you want to buy costs 2,000 COP.
Makes it hard to bargain.
