36 hours to go and still, not a single moment where i seriously thought i'd be kidnapped. Though, in the colombians defense, the police presense seems to be quite a bit higher than usual tonight. By that, i mean, on the outside of the walls of the old city, every block there's either a regular uniformed policia or one of the same holding an M-16. We also earlier passed a bomb disposal van (i think! that's what the lettering seemed to spell at least), except it was stuck in traffic while it's lights were flashing and sirens going. No big rush, apparently.
And even tonight, the police presense in the old walled city seems a lot tighter than usual. Think 2 cops every 2 blocks rather than 1 cop every 4 blocks. I wonder if anythings up? Except the wondering doesn't do any good, since i don't speak their language and i'm already back at the hotel.
So i guess tomorrow morning will mean there's just 24 hours left for something REALLY interesting to happen. It just doesn't seem like it will. Contrary to all superstition that I've heard, this place is just too safe!
I guess this means the next vacation you will hav e to ramp up the adventure level a notch!
ReplyDeleteCertainly will have to! I'm nearly convinced already that next year i'll be in the middle east!
