I figured I should have some local currency before actually arriving there, so I stopped by Citibank to see if they could order some for me (they'd previously ordered Thai Baht when I did my first (and only other) international trip. Seems, though, they don't stock Colombian Pesos at all, but they gave me the number of a local currency exchanger (Foreign Currency Express) to call.
I'm ordering $500 US Dollars worth of the Colombian Pesos. Which tranlates to just about 860,000 colombian. Which is going to make it a bit difficult to do off the top of my head calculations about how much things are costing along the way. Not big deal, it's just going to be a very small thing to think about.
I just wonder why the haven't done what Zimbabwe did and lop several zeros off their currency. Because I'm guessing the things you can buy for 1,000 pesos are just about non existent.
